Rajnath Singh Clears Transfer Of DRDO Missile Technologies To Indian Firms

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has greenlit the technology transfer (ToT) of all conventional missile systems developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to Indian defense manufacturers. This move aims to boost indigenous production and advance the Aatmanirbharta initiative in the defense sector. Domestic companies can now produce DRDO-developed missile systems, provided they meet the required qualifications, certifications, and regulatory standards.

This decision will help shift missile projects from the development phase to industrial-scale production. The initiative will also broaden the involvement of Indian industry in the defense ecosystem by providing opportunities for private sector companies, MSMEs, and other technology partners to join the missile manufacturing supply chain.

The Defense Ministry believes that this move will enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities, fortify the defense industrial base, and increase indigenous value addition. It will also lessen reliance on imports and foster the expansion of India's defense manufacturing sector. The DRDO will collaborate closely with Indian industry to facilitate the transfer and integration of advanced technologies, ensuring their successful transition into production.

This initiative is anticipated to strengthen India's capacity to design, develop, and manufacture advanced missile systems domestically, thereby enhancing the operational capabilities of the armed forces.
