Rahim Razali honoured with Perak Tokoh Pengamal Media award

IPOH: Film director and actor Datuk Abdul Rahim Mohd Razali was honored with the Tokoh Pengamal Media award at the Perak state Maulidur Rasul celebrations on <today>. The prestigious Anugerah Zaid bin Thabit was presented by Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, who attended the Fostering Muslim Character — Fortifying the Identity of the Ummah themed celebration at a local hotel.

Sultan Nazrin, accompanied by Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim, was joined by Perak's royal family, including Raja Muda Perak Raja Jaafar and Raja DiHilir Perak Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain Idris Shah, as well as Perak's Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

Abdul Rahim, 87, launched his career as a broadcasting assistant at Radio Malaysia (RTM) and founded his production company, Angkatan Seniman Abad XX Sdn Bhd, in 1981. He also served as a scriptwriter and drama director in Australia, producing 50 dramas for RTM and 15 films, eight of which were featured at the Tokyo International Film Festival.

Known by his stage name Rahim Razali, he directed and starred in iconic films like Abang (1981), Matinya Seorang Patriot (1984), and Tsu Feh Sofiah (1986). He also appeared in recent films such as Munafik (2016) and Imaginur (2023).

Awarded RM5,000 and a plaque, Abdul Razali's achievements were celebrated alongside the presentation of the Tokoh Keluarga Mithali award to 82-year-old Yang Walad from Kuala Kurau. The Tokoh Pengamal Media award also included the Anugerah Pertubuhan Bukan Kerajaan and Tokoh Imam, Bilal dan Siak awards.
