President Sheikh Mohamed sends letter to Saudi Arabia’s King Salman

President Sheikh Mohamed has penned a letter to King Salman of Saudi Arabia, extending an official invitation to the upcoming UN Water Conference 2026 in Abu Dhabi, scheduled for December. The Saudi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Waleed Al Khereiji, received this message during a meeting with the UAE ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Matar Salem Al Dhaheri, in Riyadh on Monday.

The UN Water Conference, co-hosted by the UAE and Senegal from December 8-10, will gather UN member states, civil society, and the private sector to address pressing issues such as access, cooperation, and financing in the face of mounting challenges like population growth, urbanization, and climate change on global freshwater supplies.

The UAE and Senegal aim to emphasize the urgency for governments, financial institutions, and the private sector to take swift action against the escalating water crisis. In July, officials from the UAE and Saudi Arabia shared their deep-rooted ties on social media, highlighting the shared history and fraternal bonds between the two nations, which are further strengthened by wise leadership and a shared vision for regional prosperity.
