President Sheikh Mohamed sends letter to Saudi Arabia’s King Salman

President Sheikh Mohamed has extended an official invitation to Saudi Arabia's King Salman for the UN Water Conference 2026 in Abu Dhabi, scheduled for December. The invitation was conveyed by Matar Salem Al Dhaheri, the UAE Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed Al Khereiji during their meeting in Riyadh on Monday.

The conference, to be co-hosted by the UAE and Senegal from December 8-10, aims to bring together UN member states, civil society, and the private sector to address pressing issues such as access, cooperation, and financing related to the escalating global water crisis, exacerbated by growing populations, urbanization, and climate change.

The UAE and Senegal will emphasize the urgency for governments, financial institutions, and the private sector to take prompt action. In July, UAE and Saudi officials shared their deep-rooted historical ties and fraternal bonds on social media, highlighting how their shared destiny and wise leadership foster close cooperation and a vision for regional prosperity.
