Poste aumenta gli Atm: nei primi 6 mesi ne ha aperti altri 431

In the first six months of 2026, Italian Post (Poste Italiane) has bolstered its physical presence by installing 431 new Postamat ATMs. This brings the total number of automatic kiosks across the country to 9,668. Since 2018, the number of Postamat ATMs has increased by 2,386 units, which is a growth rate nearing 33%. There are now five regions where the number of Poste Italiane kiosks exceeds that of the entire banking system: Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Molise, and Valle d’Aosta.

Poste Italiane ATMs offer a wide range of services, from balance inquiries and transaction history to phone and Postepay card recharges, bill payments, and cash withdrawals without needing the physical card. The machines, under the leadership of CEO Matteo Del Fante and General Manager Giuseppe Lasco, serve as a 24/7 access point offering numerous operations.

To deter theft attempts, the devices are equipped with anti-skimming systems to prevent card cloning and mechanisms to detect counterfeit banknotes. This strategy contrasts with the trend in the credit sector, where credit institutions have seen a decrease in ATMs from over 40,000 in 2018 to just over 36,000 in 2025. Poste Italiane also notes that banks closed almost a quarter of their branches between 2018 and 2025, while they managed to keep their network largely stable, ensuring a high level of service coverage for financial, postal, and public administration needs.

This extensive coverage is further reinforced by the Polis project, involving nearly 7,000 postal offices in towns with fewer than 15,000 inhabitants. Funded with 800 million euros from complementary PNRR resources and over 400 million euros from Poste Italiane, the project aims to transform these offices into public administration outposts.
