Does your EasyJet boarding pass have to include your middle names?

EasyJet's booking system can cause anxiety among passengers who fear they will be denied boarding if the name on their boarding pass doesn't match the full name on their travel ID. The crucial question is whether middle names included on a passport or ID must be listed on the boarding pass.

According to EasyJet's policy, "The first names on the boarding pass should match those in the passenger’s travel document. This includes middle names." However, minor discrepancies should not necessarily prevent a passenger from traveling, provided their identity can be verified when checking in or at the gate.

While EasyJet allows passengers to correct title or name-spelling errors of up to three characters for free, altering the name on the booking costs 77 euros per passenger, per flight. This cost raises concerns about whether it's worth paying close to 100 euros just to change the name on a boarding pass if it means avoiding a potential boarding refusal.

During the booking process, EasyJet requests passengers to enter only their "First name" in one field and "Last name" in another. This setup can result in passengers with middle names receiving an error message when checking in for their flight, as the system may not recognize the full name on their passport or travel document.

When asked about the validity of boarding passes that display only the first and last names but omit the middle names on the passenger's ID, EasyJet stated, "If the passenger can be clearly identified, they will be allowed to board." In other words, as long as gate staff can verify the passenger's identity, middle names missing from the boarding pass should not hinder boarding.
