Police rescue three kidnap victims, recover stolen car, firearms in Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command rescued three kidnapped individuals and recovered their Lexus RX350, along with two locally-made firearms, ammunition, and other items. The operation, supported by the Neighbourhood Watch corps and community members, was initiated following credible intelligence received on August 18, 2026. The operatives pursued the suspects, who abandoned the vehicle and firearms before fleeing the scene on Hillview Road, Independence Layout.

The three victims were rescued unharmed and taken to safety. The command recovered the vehicle, a pistol, mobile phone, and other exhibits from the scene. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the suspects, and the public is urged to remain vigilant and provide credible information. The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the police, Neighbourhood Watch members, and citizens for their swift response and expressed the command's commitment to combating kidnapping, armed robbery, car snatching, and other violent crimes.
