Police Arrest 7, Seize 860 Suspected Tramadol Tablets

The Ghana Police Service has arrested seven individuals in separate intelligence-led operations across the Ashanti Region, targeting suspected narcotics activities. The arrests occurred on Thursday, August 20, 2026, by the Intelligence Group Police (IGP) Special Operations Team (SOT) in Ejisu, Abrepo Junction, and Atimatim. In Ejisu, Nana Kwadwo Adu, 43, and Nana Kwame Fella, 48, were apprehended.

At Abrepo Junction, police detained Stephanie Anokye, 23; Roland Anokye, 20; Gideon Owusu, 30; and Grace Fosua, 27. At Atimatim, Kofi Opoku, 27, was also arrested for suspected narcotics peddling and previous evasions of arrest. The operations were prompted by intelligence on suspected narcotic activities in the areas, aimed at identifying and apprehending those possessing, controlling, or using such substances.

Police recovered pill pouches containing suspected narcotic materials, Tramadol tablets and capsules, totaling 860, and various amounts of illicit currency. All suspects are in custody and cooperating with investigations, which are expected to uncover the substances' source, the extent of the suspects' alleged involvement, and identify additional persons connected to the illegal activities.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has called upon the public to provide credible information to aid public safety and security efforts, promising further updates as the investigation unfolds.
