PM, Omani, Iranian FMs discuss latest developments

Yesterday, Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani conversed with Oman's Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al-Busaidi. The dialogue focused on strengthening bilateral ties and exploring further cooperation. They also deliberated on the most recent regional affairs, specifically the on-going dialogue between Oman and Iran to establish a temporary shared navigation route through the Strait of Hormuz and a joint initiative to clear mines from the Strait.

The Prime Minister expressed Qatar's appreciation for Oman's diplomatic endeavors aimed at de-escalation and enhancing regional stability. Later, Qatar's Prime Minister engaged in a telephone conversation with Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. They reviewed the latest regional happenings, highlighting the ongoing negotiations between Oman and Iran on the temporary shared shipping corridor and the joint project to remove mines from the Strait.

The Prime Minister reiterated Qatar's full backing for diplomatic initiatives aimed at securing unobstructed maritime navigation and paving the way for a comprehensive agreement that ensures enduring peace in the region.
