PM Anwar urges Muslims to make Islamic values a model for governance, education

Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim challenged the Muslim community to embody Islamic values through their actions and achievements, asserting that the faith should serve as an exemplary model for society, including non-Muslims. He emphasized that the challenge lies not just in promoting Islamic principles, but in demonstrating them through good governance, excellence in education, professional integrity, and responsible conduct.

"The challenge for the ummah today is how we can make Islam an example that can be emulated by the community and humanity as a whole," he stated.

Anwar urged Muslims to be diligent in their roles, whether as administrators, professors, or students, emphasizing the importance of continuous improvement. He urged Muslims to embrace change while ensuring their values translated into tangible societal improvements. Speaking at the National-Level Maulidur Rasul SAW 1448H/2026 celebration in Serdang, Anwar stressed the importance of Muslims in a multi-racial and multi-religious country like Malaysia, where Islamic values should be reflected in conduct rather than reduced to identity or rhetoric.

He cautioned that the way Islam is presented could influence perceptions of the faith, urging Muslims to demonstrate compassion, knowledge, integrity, good administration, and excellence. Anwar noted that Muslims needed to lead by example, showing that Islam is not just about words, but about compassionate, knowledgeable, and responsible action.

He emphasized that the annual Maulidur Rasul celebration should inspire Muslims to renew their faith and commitment to self-improvement, becoming better Muslims who set the finest example for humanity.
