Physical 100: Mexico - meet the athletes taking on Netflix's gruelling challenge

Netflix's grueling reality show Physical: 100 is making its Mexican debut on September 16. Titled Habilidad Fisica: 100 – Mexico, the program brings together 100 competitors from various backgrounds to endure a series of physically demanding challenges. The show, a spin-off of the Korean original, has already spawned adaptations in Italy and Asia, with more international versions in the works, including for the United States and Sweden.

The unique format pits both men and women with exceptional physical abilities against one another. These contestants are typically athletes from different sports, including Olympians, mixed martial arts champions, bodybuilders, and CrossFit enthusiasts. Throughout the competition, participants face a variety of tests designed to assess their strength, endurance, agility, and mental fortitude.

Some of the challenges include the Hanging Challenge, where participants must hang from a bar above water for as long as possible; the Death Match Challenge, a one-on-one wrestling competition; and others that require quick thinking and physical prowess. Contestants are eliminated after each challenge, with the final survivor taking home a prize of 300 million Korean won, approximately $210,000, in the original Physical: 100.

In Mexico, the lineup features a diverse group of athletes. The competition includes three Mexican wrestlers – Mistico, Atlantis Jr, and Soberano Jr – along with Hyrox athletes Karen Lara, Alberto Castaneda, Mariona Caballero, and Aldo Marquez. Olympic swimmer Miguel de Lara, wrestlers Ambar Garnica and Brandon Diaz, sprinter Ceci Tamayo, and CrossFit athletes Luis Mora, Roldan Goldbaum, and Marian Meza are also part of the field. Strongman Uriel Gutierrez and gymnasts Alexa Moreno and Daniel Corral will add to the lineup.

The show promises to highlight Mexico's finest physical talents as they battle in the ultimate physical competition. Viewers can look forward to witnessing who among these athletes will make it all the way to the finish line.
