Paul Finebaum sounds off on controversial LSU transfers

Paul Finebaum expressed his thoughts on the recent LSU transfers, specifically tight end Dae Quan White and defensive tackle Zxavian Harris, during an appearance on ESPN's First Take. Finebaum noted that no matter where Kiffin is in college football, the norms get shattered and everyone is shocked. He emphasized that everyone in the SEC is currently waiting to see what the SEC commissioner, Greg Sankey, says about the situation, but as of yet, he has not provided any statements.

The SEC released a statement on Monday, clarifying that college athletes, not former professional athletes, are the focus of their rules. Individuals who leave college athletics, sign professional playing contracts, and compete professionally should not be permitted to return to college competition. Finebaum pointed out that this is the core of the SEC's stance, mentioning that White and Harris both went undrafted but signed professional contracts with NFL teams - White with the Cleveland Browns and Harris with the New Orleans Saints.

Both players even appeared in an NFL preseason game before requesting their release to transfer to LSU.

Finebaum suggested that the SEC could take further action, referencing the Brendan Sorsby situation from earlier in the year. Sorsby was initially deemed eligible to play for Texas Tech after being accused of betting on several games, leading to several teams in the Big 12 threatening to boycott matchups against Texas Tech. Finebaum believes that the SEC could do something similar to the Big 12 in this case, potentially resulting in reprimanding action against LSU.
