Parliamentary commission summons former Defense Minister Fedorov over Operation Midas

Former Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader and former Keralam Minister K.T. Jaleel has cautioned former Nilambur MLA P.V. Anvar about the betrayal he would face if he aligned with the United Democratic Front (UDF). Responding to Anvar's social media post alleging UDF betrayal in the recent Assembly election, Dr. Jaleel stated that he had foreseen the outcome.

Anvar had contested Beypore as a UDF-backed Independent against LDF candidate P.A. Mohamed Riyas. Dr. Jaleel emphasized that Anvar's openness and straightforwardness had been compromised in the political arena. He also warned about the Congress and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), suggesting both viewed politics as a business.

Dr. Jaleel invoked Anvar's father, a freedom fighter, to stress the importance of reconsidering his association with the UDF. Anvar had previously served as an LDF-backed Independent and had won the Assembly seat in 2016 and 2021. He later resigned from the CPI(M) and joined the UDF, contesting the Nilambur byelection as an Independent.

Despite polling nearly 20,000 votes, Anvar remained third in the contest. The UDF recognized him as a political force capable of influencing elections, but his impact in local body elections was limited. Anvar later joined the UDF and contested the Assembly election from Beypore, losing to LDF candidate P.A. Mohamed Riyas.
