Pakistan Introduces AI Translator SILA for Deaf People

Pakistan has launched an artificial intelligence-based translator called SILA to assist deaf individuals in receiving vital information and warnings during emergencies, potentially saving lives. The British High Commissioner, Jane Marriott, confirmed that the United Kingdom has backed the Sono Tech project, an inclusive early warning system for all citizens, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Developed by ConnectHear, with assistance from GSMA Pakistan and Ufone, SILA is showcased as the AI interpreter saving lives in Pakistan. The British representative observed the system's usage at a deaf students' facility and learned from the students how to utilize the technology. The primary objective of this initiative is to deliver timely and comprehensible information about emergencies, natural disasters, and other dangers to deaf individuals, enabling them to take appropriate safety measures.
