Ottawa’s counter-tariff list is appropriate, Saskatchewan premier says

REGINA - Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe believes the federal government's counter-tariff plan against the United States is the appropriate action to take. The annual payment for the counter-tariff plan is $205.00 plus GST for one year. This subscription will automatically renew at $233.00 plus GST every 52 weeks, providing a 10% discount from the regular annual price of $259.35. Moe states that the list of U.S. products Ottawa plans to impose tariffs on represents 11% of his province's annual imports from the southern border. The counter-tariffs encompass a wide array of items, ranging from essential manufacturing goods like steel and aluminum to everyday necessities such as smartphones, clothing, dairy products, and appliances.

Saskatchewan's government is currently reviewing the list to assess its potential effects on job creation and consumer prices, as well as to explore how new relief measures from Ottawa could assist Saskatchewan during the ongoing trade dispute. Although Moe supports Ottawa's approach, he emphasizes the importance of preserving a free and fair trading relationship with Canada's nearest neighbor.
