Olaopa Seeks Knowledge-driven Reform In Civil Service As Walson-Jack Presents Books

The Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Prof. Tunji Olaopa, has called for knowledge-driven reform in the civil service during the public presentation of two books by Didi Esther Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. These books, "Beyond the Mandate – A Memoir on Leadership" and "I Planted – A Memoir of Purposeful Service," were presented to mark her retirement.

Olaopa emphasized that the books are not just personal memoirs, but also contributions to the ongoing conversation about leadership, governance, institutional reform, and the responsibilities that come with civil service positions. He stressed that reform should be driven by knowledge and a constant desire to learn, asking Nigerian civil servants what they read and whether they recognize their knowledge and intellectual deficit.

Olaopa acknowledged Walson-Jack's commitment to leaving the civil service better than she met it, despite many constraints, and praised her team spirit and collegiality. He also highlighted the important role of President Bola Tinubu in her success and the impact of her husband, Nimi Walson-Jack, on her career.
