NPP backs Afenyo-Markin’s push for answers over reported GH¢22bn GoldBod losses

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has declared its unwavering support for Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin's pursuit of answers regarding the reported GH¢22 billion GoldBod losses. This stance was reaffirmed by NPP National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye during a press briefing on Tuesday, August 25. The party stands firmly behind the Minority Caucus, led by Afenyo-Markin, in their efforts to obtain a transparent account of the reported losses.

Nana Boakye emphasized that the NPP supports every member of the Minority Caucus in their pursuit of accountability from the state institution at the heart of the matter. He stressed that this issue should not be viewed as mere political rivalry, but rather a national responsibility to ensure public resources are properly managed.

Nana Boakye urged the minority to utilize all available parliamentary mechanisms, including questioning on the floor of Parliament, committee hearings, and requests for documents. He also called for the minority to engage the Ghanaian public in their campaign for answers beyond the confines of Parliament. The NPP remains vigilant in its support for the minority's efforts until all questions surrounding the matter are answered in full and in public scrutiny.
