Nintendo announces two new Switch 2 bundles, set to arrive after price hike

Nintendo is introducing two new Switch 2 bundles this fall, announced on Tuesday. These bundles come with a three-month Nintendo Switch Online Individual membership and a downloadable game code. The timing of the announcement is significant, as the Switch 2 is experiencing a price increase effective September 1st, raising its price from $449.99 to $499.99. The new bundles offer ways to save money following the price hike.

The first bundle includes Mario Kart World and is set for release in late September. It will be available for $549.99, saving customers $37.98 compared to purchasing the console, game, and membership separately. The second bundle comes with Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, the latest entry in Nintendo's sports simulation series. This bundle is scheduled for release on October 22nd, the same day as the game's release, and is priced at $529.99, saving shoppers $27.98.

Preorders for the second bundle will begin soon, according to the company. Nintendo previously offered three Switch 2 game bundles (excluding memberships) for $499.99, one of which featured Mario Kart World. However, all of these bundles were sold out at the time of writing. The company announced a $50 price increase for the Switch 2 in May due to changes in market conditions, likely referring to the global memory shortage caused by the AI boom, often called "RAMageddon."

Many tech companies, including Amazon, Apple, Dell, Microsoft, and Sony, have raised their hardware prices due to similar circumstances.
