NEET UG Round 1 seat allotment out: How to accept seat, online verification, next steps

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has published the NEET UG 2026 Round 1 seat allotment results on its official website, mcc.nic.in. Applicants can verify their seat allotments and obtain detailed information regarding their allotted colleges and courses through the MCC portal. Round 1 of the counselling process encompasses seats under the MCC system, comprising 15% All India Quota seats, AIIMS, JIPMER, Central Universities, deemed universities and other participating colleges.

Candidates who have been allotted seats should complete the admission process by August 31, 2026. The allotted institutes will verify the details of enrolled candidates on September 1, 2026.

To check the allotment result, candidates must visit the MCC website and navigate to the UG Medical Counselling section. Follow these steps:

1. Visit the MCC website (mcc.nic.in).

2. Open the UG Medical Counselling section.

3. Click the Round 1 seat allotment result link.

4. Download the allotment result and verify the allocated college and course.

5. Log in to the MCC candidate portal for subsequent admission instructions.

6. Download the allotment letter and retain it for further procedures.

Following the allotment, candidates have two options: Freeze or Float. Selecting Freeze implies acceptance of the allocated seat, requiring the candidate to report to the allotted institute within the stipulated time frame to finalize admission and perform document verification. Candidates opting for Float and aiming for an upgrade do not need to physically report at this stage, as their documents will be verified online by the allotted institute, keeping them eligible for consideration in the subsequent round.

An important modification in NEET UG counselling 2026 is the Freeze and Float system introduced this year, along with increased reliance on online document verification. This change is designed to minimize frequent physical visits to medical colleges. Candidates who choose Freeze must physically report to their allotted institute within the prescribed period to complete admission and document verification.

Candidates who opt for Float and seek an upgrade can complete online document verification while retaining their eligibility for the next round.

Other significant changes in NEET UG counselling 2026 include an online resignation facility, enabling candidates to withdraw from eligible allotted seats without a separate physical visit to the institution. The reforms aim to reduce travel and administrative tasks during subsequent counselling rounds. However, it should be noted that not all admission-related activities are entirely online.

Those who freeze a seat still need to physically report to the allotted college and fulfill the institution's admission requirements. Candidates should strictly adhere to the latest revised schedule and information bulletin available on the MCC website (mcc.nic.in), as the MCC has issued multiple revisions to the Round 1 timeline this month.

The official MCC website currently displays the revised UG counselling bulletin dated August 20 and the revised Round 1 schedule dated August 19.
