Naftogaz eyes extra support following WEF

Naftogaz Group convened to discuss Ukraine's heating season and energy challenges during the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Geneva. On Tuesday, Serhiy Fedorenko, the Acting Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz Ukrainy, held meetings with heads of major international companies at the August Leadership Meetings. The discussions centered on expanding cooperation in equipment supplies, sharing expertise for resilience in wartime, mobilizing additional resources for infrastructure reconstruction and winter survival, energy supplies, and addressing global challenges, according to a statement.

The August Leadership Meetings, a private event for around 120 top executives, facilitates experience sharing, dialogue, and collaboration among global business leaders to tackle economic development challenges. In a government Q&A session on August 21, First Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Denys Shmyhal reported that Naftogaz Ukrainy had already signed contracts for over 2.09 billion cubic meters of gas this year, with 2 billion cubic meters imported from January to July.

Since the start of 2026, Russia has launched approximately 300 attacks on Naftogaz Group facilities, with the intensity of assaults more than doubling since the beginning of the year.
