Man gets life sentence for trafficking 226.5kg of cannabis, wife freed

Kuala Lumpur High Court convicts Faliq Amar Abdul Rahim, 31, of life imprisonment for trafficking 226.5kg of cannabis on February 16, 2022. The first charge involves 9.5kg of cannabis, while the second charge pertains to 217kg. Norsyafika Nazwa Nurizan, 33, his wife, is acquitted of both charges. The court finds Faliq guilty under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and imposes a life sentence, with 24 strokes of the cane.

Norsyafika is acquitted of the first charge after the prosecution fails to establish a prima facie case. The court also finds her innocent of the second charge, stating she was merely a passive enabler who knew about the drugs but did not have authority over them.
