Mahama to cut sod for new multi-storey airport car park, hotels

President John Dramani Mahama is set to officially break ground on Thursday, August 27, 2026, for the construction of a new multi-tiered airport car park and hotel complex at Accra International Airport. This ambitious project aims to upgrade the airport's facilities and offer enhanced commercial and hospitality services to travelers and visitors.

Government Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu praised Mahama for his investment in significant infrastructure projects. Notable accomplishments attributed to the President include the completion of Terminal 3 at Accra International Airport, the establishment of the MPS Terminal at Tema Harbour, and the allocation of $400 million for the Tema-Mpakadan Railway Project.

The proposed development will consist of a seven-story car park housing over 2,000 parking spaces, two hotels, a pedestrian connector connecting the complex to the terminal, and a shopping mall complete with a food court, retail stores, and rental office spaces. Additionally, the complex will feature a sky lounge for entertainment and a sky observatory providing visitors with breathtaking views of aircraft during landings and takeoffs.

The project is part of a larger initiative to expand commercial and passenger facilities at Accra International Airport. The government is positioning this development as another major infrastructure investment under Mahama's administration.
