Maddyn Greenway looks to leave her own legacy with Kentucky WBB

Maddyn Greenway, a McDonald's All-American freshman women's basketball player at Kentucky, is making a name for herself in the world of collegiate basketball. Her father, Chad Greenway, is a former NFL linebacker for the Vikings, while her mother, Jenni, was a track athlete at the University of Iowa. Sports were ingrained in the Greenway family from a young age, with Maddyn beginning her sports journey at the age of three playing soccer for the YMCA.

Her competitive drive and talent in sports became evident by the time she was in second grade, eventually leading her to focus on basketball. To help her develop a strong mindset and work ethic, her parents instilled in her the importance of striving to be the best. Maddyn's parents also coached her on the court and around the track, helping her become a well-rounded athlete and person.

Despite her success in soccer and track, Maddyn chose to pursue basketball, scoring 5,621 points in her high school soccer career and becoming the state of Minnesota's all-time leading scorer in girls basketball. She finished her six-year basketball career with impressive statistics, including 1,186 assists and 1,100 rebounds. Maddyn ultimately chose to attend Kentucky, drawn to head coach Kenny Brooks and his development of smaller guards into offensive threats.
