Kareem Hunt, former Pro Bowl RB, visits Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions welcomed former Pro Bowl running back Kareem Hunt to the team on Tuesday, Aug. 25, following their recent signing of Roydell Williams. Hunt, a 31-year-old Toledo native, spent 10 years in the NFL, playing for the Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns. Last season, Hunt appeared in all 17 games for the Chiefs, accumulating 611 rushing yards and eight touchdowns while maintaining a 3.7-yard-per-carry average.

Hunt made the Pro Bowl in 2017 and was a runner-up for Offensive Rookie of the Year in the same year. Following the Lions' recent addition of multiple running backs to bolster their depth, the visit of Hunt provided further reinforcement to the position. Backup Isiah Pacheco, a former teammate of Hunt with the Chiefs, was sidelined due to a knee injury.

Kye Robichaux, another Lions' running back, was waived after suffering a foot injury in the preseason. Raheem Blackshear, who joined the team on Aug. 4, was placed on injured reserve following 19 offensive snaps in a game against Washington. Sione Vaki, reserve running back, returned to practice after being bothered by back spasms.

The other Lions running backs present included Jahmyr Gibbs, Roydell Williams, Trayveon Williams, and Jacob Saylors. Jabari Small, who had 16 rushing yards on three carries against the Commanders, was sidelined due to a concussion.
