Kakinada MP calls for death penalty in family suicide case

Kakinada Member of Parliament Tangella Uday Srinivas called for the death penalty for Sk. Sadhik Khan on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, following a family suicide case linked to the man. The Assistant Engineer Nooka Raju's family took their own lives on August 16, 2026. Sadhik Khan faced charges of murder, extortion, and forcing the victim to convert to another faith. On Monday, August 24, 2026, he was sent to judicial remand in connection with these charges.

On August 16, Nooka Raju, his wife, daughter, and ten-year-old grandson jumped into the Godavari River, with only the grandson surviving. Srinivas met Kakinada District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad on Tuesday to discuss security for the surviving boy, as he had reportedly been threatened by Sadhik Khan. The MP stated that Sadhik Khan allegedly threatened to hand the boy over to terrorists.

Srinivas appealed to the Collector to initiate action to protect the assets of Nooka Raju's family that have reportedly been taken over by Sadhik Khan. The ten-year-old grandson of the deceased Assistant Engineer met with news reporters on Tuesday and demanded punishment for Sadhik Khan. He claimed that Sadhik Khan had introduced him to rifle shooting in third grade, physically assaulted his mother multiple times.
