The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has launched an online system enabling candidates applying for admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions through the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to verify and upload their O’Level results from home. This service, initially offering verification of results issued by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), aims to cut down on candidates’ reliance on Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, especially during peak usage times.
According to JAMB’s Acting Director, Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, in a statement on Monday, the initiative is designed to simplify, expedite, enhance the security, and improve the convenience of JAMB’s services while eliminating issues stemming from the conventional manual upload process. These challenges include misplaced or mismatched paper certificates, submissions of unverified or fraudulent results, and mistakes in manually entering subjects and grades.
The new system integrates JAMB’s e-Facility platform with the examination bodies, allowing candidates to cross-check their results against records held by the issuing bodies before downloading them into their JAMB profiles. Candidates must first obtain a verification code by visiting the designated result verification portal. Those with two O’Level sittings need to log into their JAMB e-Facility dashboard and choose “2026 UTME O’Level Upload.”
Inputting the Verification Code will display the two verified results, allowing candidates to select their desired subjects, with a requirement of at least five but no more than nine selections, with each subject appearing only once. After confirming the choices, candidates click “Apply the O’Level Results,” receiving a confirmation notification upon successful completion.
This innovation is part of JAMB’s customer-focused service delivery strategy under its current leadership, which emphasizes technology to minimize physical visits, reduce queues, and minimize paperwork. JAMB stated that the service will prove especially beneficial during periods of high CBT centre usage, long queues, or technological difficulties.
The board further affirmed its commitment to continuing the collaboration with examination bodies and other government agencies, while leveraging technology to streamline operations and elevate the candidate experience. This move underscores JAMB’s dedication to prioritizing convenience and efficient service delivery for candidates, marking another pivotal step in JAMB’s ongoing digital transformation, transitioning a traditionally physical process towards a technologically driven system that enables candidates to complete essential admission-related tasks remotely.
