India, China seek 'political settlement' on border

India and China held discussions on advancing talks to delimit parts of the disputed border during a meeting in Beijing, according to a statement from the Indian Embassy and a report by China's Foreign Ministry. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in the Chinese capital, with both sides aiming to "further expand bilateral cooperation, maintain stability and ensure peace and tranquility in the border areas, and make progress on boundary delimitation."

Neither side disclosed which sections of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) were being considered for possible delimitation.

Last year, both sides agreed to establish a working group to explore feasible delimitation in certain areas along the LAC. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that institutional mechanisms between the two nations were resuming, and both sides have been working diligently to maintain peace and tranquility in the border regions. China reiterated its commitment to the 2005 Political Guiding Principles and expressed readiness to collaborate with India to foster a positive narrative on boundary affairs.
