IGP, NCCE Boss Receive Democracy Cup Trophy Ahead of Match

The Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and officials of the Police Management Board (POMAB) accepted the Democracy Cup trophy from the Speaker of Parliament's delegation prior to a tournament set for August 28 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. The delegation, led by Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, initially visited the Police Headquarters in Accra to discuss tournament preparations and present the trophy to the IGP.

In his address, IGP Yohuno praised Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin for utilizing football to encourage citizens to appreciate the importance of democracy. He reiterated the Police's commitment to maintaining order during and after the event, stating that they are ready to receive the cup. Mr. Djietror also conveyed the Speaker's message, emphasizing that democracy is the best form of governance and that football serves as a powerful tool for promoting democratic values due to its ability to unite people.

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) pledged its support for the 2026 Democracy Cup, viewing it as a crucial means to reinforce Ghana's democratic achievements.
