‘I feel at home’: The answer that helped Kaziah Liz Mejo win Miss Universe India 2026
Kaziah Liz Mejo, a 19-year-old law student and model from Kerala, was crowned Miss Universe India 2026 in Jaipur on Friday. Her triumph was sealed by her response to the final question posed by the jury: "Can you describe the sound of silence in your life?" Mejo answered with quiet confidence, "Namaskaram India, and hello to the Universe.
To me, silence is what I feel just before I step on stage. I am a classical dancer, an actor, and a pageant enthusiast who feels at home when on stage." The 19-year-old, born and raised in Mavelikkara, previously represented India at Miss Teen International 2025, finishing as the first runner-up. Mejo is the first Keralite to win the Miss Universe India title, and she will now represent India at the 75th Miss Universe pageant in Puerto Rico in November.
