Dolly Parton's legacy in Ireland is rooted in the Imagination Library, a literacy program she founded to inspire young minds. Following her passing at 80, her family requested donations in lieu of flowers to support this cause. Parton's motivation stemmed from her father's inability to read or write, a hardship that deeply affected her.

The program, initiated in 2019, provides free, age-appropriate books to children from birth until age five. In Ireland, it was launched in Dublin's Tallaght area through a partnership including An Post, Dublin Rotary Club, and Shamrock Rovers. Parton's father's pride in the Imagination Library was more meaningful to him than her fame.

As of March 2022, the program had gifted over 200,000 books to Irish pre-schoolers, with more than 3.5 million books distributed worldwide monthly. Beyond literacy, Parton's philanthropy includes supporting Covid-19 research and disaster relief, exemplified by her $1 million donation to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2020 and the My People Fund that aided 900 families after 2016 wildfires in Tennessee.

Yet, for Parton, the Imagination Library remains her most cherished project, symbolizing her belief that books can shape dreams, echoing her father's sentiment.
