Heat wave to hit Egypt starting Tuesday, EMA warns

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has issued a warning about an impending heat wave starting from Tuesday. Temperatures are projected to soar until the end of the week. Cairo is expected to see temperatures hit between 37C and 38C. The EMA cautioned that high humidity levels will amplify the perceived temperature, potentially reaching up to 40C, particularly during the hottest parts of the day.

Across most regions of Egypt, the weather will be hot and humid during daylight hours. Along the northern coast, the conditions will be similarly oppressive. In contrast, nighttime temperatures will be slightly less extreme but still warm and humid. High humidity is forecasted to linger overnight, with humidity levels peaking around 80 to 85 percent in Cairo and Lower Egypt, and climbing to 90 to 95 percent along the northern coast. This will intensify the overall perceived heat.

However, humidity levels are anticipated to decrease during the day, offering some respite from the oppressive conditions. The EMA urged citizens to stay informed about the daily weather updates and take necessary precautions, particularly when driving in foggy conditions.
