General : Weststar Founder Syed Azman Named Tokoh Perdana Maulidur Rasul 2026

Pengasas dan Pengarah Urusan Kumpulan Weststar, Syed Azman Syed Ibrahim, has been awarded the 2026 National Tokoh Perdana Maulidur Rasul award by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. The recognition was given to Syed Azman for Weststar's achievements in providing over 40 helicopters for oil and gas operations, as well as maintaining its dominance in the aviation support sector and positioning Weststar as the primary provider in the Asia Pacific region.

Additionally, Syed Azman actively participated in various charitable initiatives, including community infrastructure development, disaster relief, support for orphaned children, mosque and madrasa construction, and local community development, all carried out discreetly without public attention, consistent with his preference for working behind the scenes.

The award was presented by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at the National Maulidur Rasul Sambutan 1448/2026 ceremony. Former Deputy Prime Minister Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay received the Maulidur Rasul Award for the Outstanding Nationally-recognized figure category for his service as a police officer, including dismantling numerous terrorist cells and both regional and international militant networks.

Other recipients included religious scholar Abdul Hamid Chin (Moral Leader); the Deputy Rector (Student Affairs and Community Engagement) of the International Muslim University Ruzita Mohd Amin (Modern Woman); and former Malaysia Palm Oil Corporation chairman Ahmad Parveez Ghulam Kadir (Innovative Scientist/Creator). Other Maulidur Rasul Award recipients included Youth Islam Malaysia President Ahmad Fahmi Mohd Samsudin (Hope Youth), Laman Yasim labor union member (Family Mithali), and influential social media figure Muhammad Mikhael Sathyah who received the Special Person (Emerging Brilliant) award.

Meanwhile, during a media briefing, Syed Azman expressed his immense gratitude for being awarded the National Tokoh Perdana this Maulidur Rasul celebration and pledged to continue promoting charitable activities. Weststar Corporation is active not only domestically but also internationally, and Syed Azman stated that all these charitable activities are every Muslim's responsibility to help those less fortunate.
