Gateway Airport: UN Ambassador Ibrahim hails Abiodun for ‘talking to the future’

Nigerian Ambassador to the United Nations, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, has praised Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for his strategic infrastructure projects aimed at boosting the state's economic growth and preparing it for the future. During a visit to the Gateway International Airport, Ibrahim commended the airport as a significant infrastructure investment and acknowledged Governor Abiodun's vision and political will in undertaking long-term economic projects.

The Ambassador expressed admiration for the airport's aesthetics, quality, and development, highlighting it as one of the finest in Nigeria. Ibrahim also lauded Governor Abiodun for completing major projects initiated in 2019, emphasizing the importance of leadership in managing the financial, technical, and administrative challenges of such large-scale infrastructure.

He noted that Abiodun's ability to "talk to the future" through his project decisions, particularly the Epe to Ijebu-Ode project, was a standout achievement. The Ambassador contrasted Ogun State's progress with the issue of abandoned projects across Nigeria, which he said had imposed substantial economic costs on the country, citing the unfinished Ajaokuta Steel Complex as a stark example.

He further highlighted the Ogun State Government's commitment to sustaining its investment in major infrastructure projects, including the Gateway International Airport and other strategic road and economic initiatives. These projects, Ibrahim argued, could enhance the state's competitiveness, attract investment, and create opportunities for future generations.

He emphasized the significance of continuity, effective project management, and a long-term economic planning approach in delivering enduring economic value. The Ambassador urged all levels of government to prioritize projects that would provide lasting economic benefits rather than abandoning significant investments with changes in administration.
