Eid-el-Maulud: Akpabio, Barau, Natasha urge Nigerians to promote peace, unity

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has congratulated Muslims around Nigeria and the world on Eid-El-Maulud 1448 AH, a celebration marking the birth of the revered Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). In a message through his media adviser, Alhaji Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau encouraged Muslims to contemplate the Prophet's life, teachings and virtues, emphasizing virtues such as compassion, patience, justice, honesty, forgiveness and peaceful coexistence.

He suggested the best way to honor the Prophet is by embodying his character and applying his teachings in personal life, family, community, and civic responsibilities.

As the country gears up for the 2027 general elections, Senator Barau, who also serves as the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, called for intensified prayers for Nigeria's enduring peace, security, unity, and progress. He stressed that the nation's challenges necessitate collective prayers, patriotism, and commitment from all Nigerians.

To the political leaders, supporters, and citizens, he urged a focus on Nigeria's collective welfare over partisan interests. Senator Barau appealed for political actors to maintain decorum, respect democratic values, and refrain from hate speech, violence, misinformation, and other actions that could threaten the nation's peace and unity.

He emphasized the need to draw inspiration from the Prophet's life and teachings, particularly his emphasis on peace, justice, patience, and brotherhood. He reminded the public that the 2027 elections should not be a source of division but rather an opportunity to uphold the peace of Nigeria.
