From dad's shiner in '96 to Ellis Park 30 years later: Francke Horn ready to carry on All Blacks legacy

Lions captain Francke Horn is eager to surpass the achievements of his father, Francois, when the pair face off against the All Blacks at Ellis Park on Tuesday. In 1996, Francois, a former Boland fullback, played against the All Blacks in Worcester and led his team to a hard-fought 32-21 victory. The match is remembered for Breyton Paulse's impressive try, which he scored alongside his father.

Francke, now 30 years older, is looking forward to avenging his father's defeat. He proudly recalled his father's ability to convert three tries while sporting a black eye. Unlike his father, who played as a backline player, Francke will be at the base of the scrum. He expressed excitement about facing a formidable All Blacks loose trio of Semisi Ta'eiloa, Ethan Blackadder, and Wallace Sititi.
