Bessent hinted at a significant announcement regarding the sanctioning of a financial institution within the week.

Despite his stern warnings, it remained unclear whether the new sanctions would achieve their intended target. Iran has faced extensive sanctions from the UN, the US, and the European Union over the years, but the US administration remains confident that no one will fall for its grandiose rhetoric. The US and its allies have not made significant progress in resolving the crisis over the Hormuz Strait, which remains blocked, impeding global oil, gas, and fertilizer trade.
