Country music legend Dolly Parton dies

Country music icon Dolly Parton passed away at the age of 80, according to a family announcement shared on social media. Parton, known for hits such as "Jolene" and "I Will Always Love You," had a career spanning four decades. Her business ventures included opening the Tennessee theme park Dollywood in 1986, which has become a major tourist attraction.

Maintaining a legacy of philanthropy, Parton's Dollywood Foundation has donated millions of books to children through her Imagination Library. Throughout her career, Parton received numerous accolades, including 11 Grammy Awards, three Emmys, and nominations for two Academy Awards, six Golden Globe Awards, and a Tony Award. She released 48 studio albums in her lifetime, with sales exceeding 100 million records worldwide.

Born in Sevierville, Tennessee, in 1946, Dolly faced poverty in her youth but began performing as a child. She embarked on her professional journey in Nashville in 1964, initially as a songwriter before achieving mainstream success with her breakthrough hits "Jolene" and "I Will Always Love You." However, health issues led to the postponement of her Las Vegas residency last year.

In October, fans expressed concern after Parton postponed her shows due to health challenges, clarifying that she had undergone several procedures. Despite the uncertainty, Parton was set to perform at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in December. Her sister, Freida Parton, emphasized that her sister's health issues were minor and that she was simply asking for prayers.
