Burnham planning to lobby Trump for Patriot missiles for Ukraine ahead of winter

UK Prime Minister Boris Burnham intends to lobby U.S. President Donald Trump for the provision of Patriot missiles to Ukraine ahead of the winter, according to an interview with Bloomberg. Burnham, who is attending the upcoming UN General Assembly session in New York, expressed optimism regarding Ukraine's ability to defend itself against Russian ballistic missile strikes, which are severely hampered by the country's limited stockpile of interceptor missiles.

European leaders are contemplating the organization of an additional meeting of the Coalition of the Willing during the UN General Assembly to explore avenues for acquiring U.S.-made interceptor missiles from other nations. While Burnham clarified that the UK does not possess Patriot missiles, he urged other European countries to "step up" and contribute to addressing this critical issue.

Burnham noted that various players with influence could potentially contribute to a comprehensive solution, involving multiple layers and negotiations. Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN, Andrii Melnyk, expressed dismay over the Security Council's inability to counter Russia's genocidal actions, urging partners to transfer all available Patriot missiles to Kyiv.
