Boston Symphony Orchestra and musicians agree to 3-year deal that avoids possible strike

Boston Symphony Orchestra and its musicians have agreed to a three-year contract, averting the possibility of the first strike in the ensemble’s 145-year history. The deal, effective immediately, includes an annual payment of $205.00 plus GST for the first year, with subsequent renewals at $233.00 plus GST every 52 weeks. The agreement comes after a contentious relationship between the orchestra and management, particularly concerning music director Andris Nelsons' departure after 13 seasons.

The contract also establishes a collaborative process for artistic planning and centers excellence across all performances and community engagement. While the BSO Patron Action Network expressed disappointment, the orchestra's statement emphasized the significance of the partnership and commitment to advancing their artistic mission.
