Adnoc's approach has made the UAE a 'top five' robotic country, Gecko CEO says

Gecko Robotics founder Jake Loosararian has praised the UAE's robotics prowess, attributing it to the country's energy sector expertise and embrace of technology. The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), with which Gecko shares several partnerships, is leveraging robots and artificial intelligence to boost GDP growth, according to Loosararian.

He noted that Adnoc has utilized Gecko robots and other products to perform tasks, as well as gather data to enhance workflow. Loosararian believes the UAE is among the top five countries in the world in terms of robotics, commending Adnoc for embracing technology and refining its use at an exceptionally rapid pace. Gecko, a US-based company founded in 2013, specializes in combining advanced robotic technology with AI software to help organizations operate and maintain critical infrastructure.

Adnoc and Gecko signed three deals in 2025 to use robotics and AI across Adnoc's operations, aiming to boost efficiency and train Emiratis. Loosararian emphasized that robotics will thrive through the less glamorous but essential tasks robots can perform, such as energy infrastructure inspection and data recording. He highlighted the UAE government's focus and dedication to safety during the Iranian attacks shortly after the US and Israel launched strikes, which prompted Gecko to establish a presence in the country.
