Yankees' Ryan Weathers Lands On IL With Forearm Strain

The New York Yankees have placed left-handed starting pitcher Ryan Weathers on the 15-day injured list due to a left forearm flexor strain, according to a report on Sunday. The injury occurred shortly after Weathers left the game in the fourth inning on Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays. In response to Weathers' injury, the Yankees recalled right-hander Brendan Beck from their Triple-A affiliate, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Beck, who made his Major League debut earlier this season, made his MLB pitching debut with the Yankees earlier this season, appearing in one game and one reliever appearance, yielding seven runs, including four home runs and five walks over 6.2 innings.

Weathers expressed that his ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) is healthy and that he believes he can return before the conclusion of the 2026 season. Previously, Weathers faced a similar injury in June of last season with the Miami Marlins, a left lat strain that sidelined him for four months. The Yankees' southpaw, Weathers, claims this current injury is less severe than the one from last season.

Weathers is scheduled to meet with team doctor Christopher Ahmad to discuss the next steps in his recovery process. To date, Weathers has posted a career-best 3.60 ERA with a career-high 143 strikeouts in 25 starts this season.
