#SHOWBIZ: 'He couldn't breathe': Amyza Aznan's husband in medically induced coma at HKL

Malaysian actress Amyza Aznan has disclosed that her husband, Khairil Izhar Mohd Nazir, is currently hospitalized in a medical-induced coma at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) due to fluid accumulation in his lungs and elevated blood pressure. Speaking to Harian Metro, the 50-year-old artiste revealed that Khairil, 51, had been suffering from severe shortness of breath for nearly a week prior to his admission.

Amyza explained that his condition had worsened over the past five to six days despite attending his regular dialysis sessions thrice a week. Unlike previous instances when breathing difficulties arose when he missed a dialysis session, Khairil continued to struggle with breathing even after undergoing dialysis. He had been experiencing sleep problems for over two weeks, often having to stay upright to breathe properly.

Although he contemplated visiting the hospital four days earlier, Amyza stated that he initially tried to cope with the discomfort by continuing his dialysis treatments. However, his health deteriorated, leading her to call an ambulance as driving him home was not feasible. Upon his admission, medical professionals informed Amyza that her husband needed to be placed in an induced coma due to his critical condition, lung fluid, and high blood pressure.

Amyza has been waiting at the hospital for updates. Earlier, she shared Khairil's condition on Instagram, appealing for prayers from her followers. Khairil has faced several severe health issues in recent years, including a heart attack in December 2017 and an induced coma in December 2023 due to breathing complications, which later tested positive for Covid-19.

The couple, married since 2003, have three sons: Andre Mikhail, Adrian Adam, and Ayden Andika. Tragically, their eldest son, Andre, died on February 23 after battling stage three lung cancer.
