Who is William Nicholas Love? ‘Spider-Man’ Arrested for Fighting Jake Lang
The confrontation unfolded outside Minneapolis City Hall.
William Nicholas Love, a 33-year-old Minneapolis resident, gained national attention after being photographed in a Spider-Man costume during a controversial rally outside Minneapolis City Hall on August 22. The event, organized by conservative activist Edward Jacob "Jake" Lang, attracted a much larger crowd of counterprotesters.
Videos showed Love climbing onto the back of a pickup truck belonging to Lang and apparently striking him during a physical altercation with Lang and his supporters. Minneapolis Police Department confirmed that Love was the costumed individual, and arrested him for assault. Despite online support for the costumed man as a "hero," the police clarified that his arrest was for assault, not heroism. Love was one of 11 people arrested during the protest, and has since been released from custody.
