We have kept our promise of timely disbursement of county funds, DP Kindiki says

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki praised the National Treasury for promptly disbursing funds to counties, asserting that the government maintains its promise of no delayed payments. Kindiki confirmed that all monthly payments up to August have been released, leaving no pending allocations, allowing the 47 devolved units to fund their activities.

He praised the National Treasury for disbursing all due amounts to County Governments by the end of the financial year, reflecting the Kenya Kwanza government's commitment to supporting devolution. Kindiki acknowledged Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi's efforts toward faster disbursement of allocations. Additionally, he commended Parliament for swiftly passing the Division of Revenue Bill, 2026 and the County Allocation of Revenue Bill, 2026, which have enabled the quick release of increased allocations totaling 428 billion shillings this financial year.

Kindiki emphasized the importance of the Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council (IBEC) in achieving progress, stating that the council is becoming results-oriented, with its decisions being translated into tangible benefits for citizens. He urged counties to prioritize the completion of County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs) in seven counties, as they are crucial for industrialization.

Kindiki warned of potential losses and destruction due to the upcoming El Nino rains and called for counties to activate disaster preparedness and response plans to safeguard lives, livelihoods, infrastructure, and essential services. He also appreciated governors for supporting the affordable housing program by providing land for projects and called for sustained collaboration between relevant agencies to resolve outstanding land-related matters.
