“We Are Learning To Be Stronger Than All Their Evil”: President Congratulates Ukrainians On Independence Day

On August 24, Ukraine celebrated its 35th Independence Day. In his address, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Ukrainians on this national holiday. The 1,643 days of the ongoing full-scale war have made this occasion particularly challenging. However, Zelenskyy emphasized that a powerful force is keeping Ukraine united: the collective support, trust in one another, and faith in the resilience of all Ukrainians.

Putin's strategy against Ukraine has been fundamentally flawed, according to Zelenskyy. While the enemy assessed Ukraine's resources, warehouses, and military equipment, they underestimated the single most crucial factor: the Ukrainian people themselves. Zelenskyy highlighted the key achievements of Ukrainian independence, particularly the people who bear the responsibility and are determined to fight for peace and independence.

He pointed out that Russians view Ukrainians as strangers, unable to comprehend the extraordinary dedication and strength displayed by Ukrainians, including volunteers, entrepreneurs, and farmers who have become warriors.

Zelenskyy paid tribute to the soldiers fighting on the front lines, praising their bravery and selflessness. He specifically mentioned Hero of Ukraine, Vladyslav Polskyi, whose heroic actions have inspired the nation. Zelenskyy stressed that despite the hardships of war, Ukrainians have maintained their compassion, honesty, and willingness to help others, even in the most difficult circumstances.

These acts of kindness, along with countless other moments of unity and courage, serve as a testament to the strength and resilience of the Ukrainian nation.

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine's defense industry is a powerful force, continuously working to protect the country. He highlighted the significant contributions of ground robotic systems, naval drones, and long-range and mid-range strikes, which have already had a profound impact on Russia's logistics and operations. Zelenskyy called for continued efforts to sink more enemy vessels and further weaken Russia's military capabilities.
