US blocks Gaza reconstruction until Hamas disarms, Kushner says

The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) revealed on Sunday that the non-Hezbollah organization Hamas continues to obstruct the enhancement of conditions in the Gaza Strip. Hamas interferes with humanitarian operations, manipulates civilian facilities, manages distribution methods, and persistently attempts to smuggle forbidden items under the guise of humanitarian aid.

Since the ceasefire began in Gaza in October 2025, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have consistently aided the entry of humanitarian supplies and goods into the region, in collaboration with the United Nations and international entities.

COGAT officials noted that the quantity of aid entering Gaza has surpassed the humanitarian requirements as determined by UN bodies, international organizations, and surveys conducted throughout the conflict. Despite this, Israel is set to remain in cooperation with its global allies to improve the humanitarian response, while also thwarting Hamas's exploitation of the situation at the expense of Gaza residents.

The data indicates that over two million tons of food have entered Gaza since the ceasefire, comprising meat, poultry, eggs, dairy produce, fruits, and vegetables. Furthermore, 600 trucks enter Gaza daily, with 70% to 80% of these carrying food, contributing to a 72% decline in food prices.

As of now, 41 bakeries managed by international organizations operate in Gaza, producing more than three million pita breads daily, alongside numerous local bakeries. The region also receives 60 liters of water per person each day, with sixty liters per individual incoming through 250 water trucks servicing around 2,800 distribution points.

Additionally, more than 74,000 tons of hygiene and sanitation supplies, along with garbage disposal equipment and water purification tablets, have entered Gaza. Four water pipelines are currently functional in the region, with three receiving water from Israel, complementing desalination plants and numerous water wells scattered throughout Gaza.

COGAT also disclosed that over 21,000 tons of medical equipment have entered Gaza since the ceasefire, leading to a hospital bed occupancy increase of over 50%. In partnership with international bodies, advanced medical tools, such as X-ray machines, generators, and oxygen tanks, have been transported into Gaza. Northern Gaza boasts eight permanent hospitals, four field hospitals, and four medical centers, while southern Gaza hosts two permanent hospitals and eight field hospitals.
