Typhoon signal in Hong Kong unlikely in next 2 days but expect unsettled weather

Hong Kong's weather forecasters are unlikely to issue a typhoon warning in the next two days, although unsettled weather is expected to affect the city later this week. The Hong Kong Observatory stated on Monday that Tropical Storm Narra, originating from the Philippines and meaning Burmese rosewood, is expected to pass close to the Leizhou Peninsula in western Guangdong province in the coming days without posing a significant threat to Hong Kong.

Unless Narra comes closer to the Pearl River Delta, the likelihood of issuing a tropical cyclone warning signal remains low.

The Observatory also predicted showers and squally thunderstorms in Hong Kong during the middle of the week due to a southerly airstream, with occasional strong offshore and high ground winds. Tropical Depression Gaenari, named after a Korean flowering bush, is currently located near Taiwan and has a relatively weak intensity. The weather in Hong Kong towards the end of the week is expected to be hot, as Super Typhoon Saudel, provided by the Federated States of Micronesia and referring to Pohnpei Island's guards, moves closer to eastern China.

Saudel's outer subsiding air will make southern China extremely hot in the latter part of the week, with showers triggered by high temperatures. As Saudel moves further inland, showers will increase along the coast of Guangdong in early next week.
