Tinubu Deserves Second Term for Fuel Subsidy Dividend, Says Anosike

Dr. Kelechi Anosike, the 2027 PDP gubernatorial candidate for Abia State, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should secure a second term in office, citing the fuel subsidy removal policy as the driving force behind infrastructure development across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. In a statement released by his media team, Anosike highlighted that the policy has increased allocations and eliminated the need for states to borrow money for salaries and pensions. He emphasized that the benefits of the policy must now be extended to ordinary Nigerians.

Anosike cautioned that while the economic burden of the subsidy removal has been shifted onto citizens, the welfare dividend should also be distributed to them. He called for governors to convert the additional resources into direct welfare programs. Anosike described himself as a "welfarist" and stressed that the welfare of the people is his top priority. He proposed a state welfare dividend program covering six areas: food, transport, workers' welfare, healthcare, education, and youth enterprise support.

He also criticized states that prioritize infrastructure over citizens' welfare, citing the president's recent comment on wasted resources spent on flyovers. Anosike argued that infrastructure and welfare are not mutually exclusive and that a good government should build roads, provide healthcare, and support education while also ensuring that the people are fed and protected.

If elected in 2027, Anosike pledged to implement this philosophy in Abia State, focusing on building roads, feeding the people, and improving lives, always prioritizing the well-being of the citizens.
