Telangana CM Revanth Reddy returns to Hyderabad, likely to address controversy over denied US visit

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy returned to Hyderabad on Monday, cutting short a planned trip to London and the United States. The decision to end the US leg of his tour was attributed to political considerations by the Chief Minister and the Congress party, after the Centre denied permission. Upon his arrival, Reddy met with all government Secretaries and is expected to address the controversy surrounding the denial of the US visit on Monday or Tuesday.

He intends to challenge the Centre's decision, emphasizing that his proposed tour aimed to engage with leading educational institutions in Telangana. Reddy thanked AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge for his support, and Congress leaders, including Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge and Telangana Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, publicly backed him.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders, including Ministers and MLAs, are pushing for disciplinary action against Endowments Minister Konda Surekha, whose daughter made disparaging remarks about Reddy at an event in Warangal. The TPCC issued a show cause notice to Surekha, but she declined to condemn her daughter's comments. The controversy has also revealed the lack of condemnation from senior Ministers, with younger legislators speaking out against Surekha.
