Teen golfers made their mark at CPKC Women’s Open, signal bright futures

Edmonton – The inaugural 2026 CPKC Women's Open tournament heralded a promising future for Canadian women's golf. This year marked the first time that four Canadians aged 18 and under made the cut. Vancouver's Anna Huang emerged as the top Canadian, finishing at 12-under-par tied for fourth place. Calgary's Aphrodite Deng and Richmond Hill's Michelle Xing, who turned 18 in July, both tied for seventh.

Michelle Xing, a late addition to the field under a sponsor’s exemption, made the cut after two attempts. Amateur Clairey Lin, who turned 16 in July, made the cut in her tournament debut at age 16 but finished 3 over. Canada's women's head coach Salimah Mussani praised the young talent, stating that these Canadian golfers are the future of the sport.
